Live Life Loud

“I’m not sitting down ’til I’m older, and I’m not shuttin’ up ’til it’s over! Raise your hands and shout if you’re with me, once we start, it won’t make a difference! If you wanna live life loud, throw your hands up!” – Live Life Loud – Hawk Nelson (off of their album, ‘Live Life Loud’, 2009)

Many of you probably do not know this, but ‘Seer Of People’ is actually my fifth blogging attempted (and my most successful). My other blogs are still out there somewhere I assume, but I have not touched them in years. Some posts I have copies of on my computer however and it is from these files that I have “end of year review” type of blogs that date back to 2012 (though my first blog was in 2007). I used to use one word to summarize the year that had passed, 2012- Reflection, 2013 – Change, 2014- Unexpected, 2015 – Growth, and 2016 – Stretching.

In all reality 2015 and 2016 were really hard years for me. I have actually had quite a few friends tell me that if I could make it through those two years I could make it through anything. I am not sure how true that is, but there was a lot of loss and heartbreak those two years. That brings us to 2017.

Biblically the number 17 represents “overcoming” or “victory” and that is exactly how I describe this year. Twenty-Seveteen has been an amazing year for me! Sure there have been hard and stressful moments, but over all this year has been fantastic! I went into 2017 carrying a lot of baggage from the past few years, and even some from many years ago, and 2017 has been a year for freedom, victory, and joy! It makes me so excited to see what is going to take place in 2018.

Here are some highlights from my 2017

I started out the year at Passion 2017 with thousands of believers praising God together. This was definitely a highlight and was something I looked back on a lot throughout this year.

Rise Out Of The Dark tour. Honestly I was a little ‘take it or leave it’ at first about this concert, but I after I decided I wanted to go it fell together pretty quick. I got to hang out with a couple of my friends and have a great night with Father. It was definitely a highlight moment for me.

Outcry 2017. I had planned to go with my dad and a couple friends, but things did not go according to plan. My life rarely does. However I still got to go and my dad was able to make it as well, as did my mom and a few different friends from what I originally planned. It was an amazing night of worship and it came at such a perfect time for me.

Going with my dad to see Ed Sheeran on his Divide tour. This was a fun day for me to spend with my dad and even though I know he would have rather seen a Christian artist it means so much to me that he was willing to go.

Revive Ohio: Allen Country. I unfortunately was not able to go out on the streets during the day, but I did make it to all of the evening services and it was awesome! I loved going every night to meet with other believers from all over Lima to worship Father and be unified in that. It was a great experience and I am so glad I got to be a part of it.

Going to Florida with two of my girls in July was without question one of the best parts of 2017! We had so much fun going to Disney Word, Universal, and the beach! It was such a perfect girls’ trip and I am so very grateful that we got the opportunity to go!

Indiana to see Papa and Ellie. I made a last minute trip over to Papa’s in August for a few days and I am so very glad I did. Most of the time when my grandparents come here it is just for the day. So we have about 6 hours with them. 9 times out of 10 I am working when they are here and I only see them briefly when they first arrive and right before they leave. My family does not get over to Indiana as much as we would like, and it had been about a year or longer since I had been. Making that trip and spending a few days with them was well worth it! We did not do a whole lot (we literally did nothing, but watch Hallmark movies one day), but it was memories made and time spent. I will cherish that trip for a long time.

This year three of my best friends got engaged, and asked me to be in their weddings! And then my brother got engaged, to yet another amazing friend of mine, and my soon to be sister-in-love asked me to be her maid-of-honor. I am so excited!!! One of the weddings has come and gone this year, with the remaining three coming up in the spring. This has been a crazy and great year of celebrating and wedding planning!

Late night phone calls and 13-hour conversations with one of my best friends became a regular thing this year. Father was (and is) doing such similar things in our lives this year that from late March on we have been in near constant contact sharing what is going on. It has been an amazing year of Father setting us free from past hurts, sins, and regrets as well has showing us this better prepares us for our futures. It has been so encouraging and seriously amazing!

This year was also a bit of a struggle on the friend front. Friendships are all still intact and we do what we can to get together, but without Gifts of Joy I no longer work with some of my favorite people on the planet and our conflicting schedules have made this year a bit of a struggle. We have to be more intentional with getting together and it has not been easy, sometimes causing us to sacrifice sleep and other things to make it work. I personally think it has been worth it though!

Other than the big brother getting engaged, the biggest change in our family was when my baby brother moved out in January of 2017. We still see him nearly every day, but it is weird not having him live in the same house anymore.

Other than those two life changing events nothing has changed at home with the people, but we have had a lot of changes going on to our house. Home repairs like crazy this year!
